/This artwork was commissioned for the BUONENOVE festival, held for the first time in San Marino in 2025. For this wall, I chose dialect as a vehicle to connect my stylistic research with the local territory. The choice of the Domagnano wall was not accidental: the Castello house, with its bar and the surrounding park, is a meeting place that brings together different generations, a space with a vibrant social life.

The phrase painted on the wall is a typically Sammarinese dialect expression: “Nu toca gnint”. Translating it simply as “don’t touch anything” would be reductive; the expression actually conveys a resistance to change, the tendency to avoid altering what has always worked.

My intention is a subtle and ironic critique: I reflect on a certain Sammarinese mindset that is not always inclined toward change. Since I am also the creator and organizer of BUONENOVE, the phrase can be read as the manifesto of the event itself: an invitation to open up to the contemporary world, to embrace the new while preserving one’s own culture.

Stylistically, the letters merge typographic and calligraphic elements, combining technical design with artistic gesture in a deliberately intricate composition that reveals my message in a cryptic way. It is an invitation to pause, to dedicate time to reflection before forming a judgment, whenever we encounter something unfamiliar or difficult to understand.

“Nu toca gnint” thus becomes a playful tease directed at everyone, a shared and everyday reminder to make the effort to embrace what is new.
